Chairman’s Message

Welcome to the Associated Builders & Contractors of West Virginia.  I think most of you will agree that the past year has been somewhat of a depressing year for construction in our state.  I am proud to announce that in spite of a recession, record unemployment and dwindling budgets, the West Virginia Chapter of Associated Builders & Contractors has grown to over 130 members strong.  Old and new members have realized how important it is to be a part of this organization.  They have seen the need, and the benefit to network, educate and legislate to make this industry better than ever.  This year is dedicated to member services, we will concentrate on services that benefit all members; and all you have to do is commit to participate.  Collectively through participation, you can help make this organization the strongest it has ever been.

ABC will provide legislative, safety, craft and management training that is crucial in the development of our members.  We pledge to shape our members and our industry to be the most competent, safest, and quality driven membership that West Virginia has to offer.

ABC Merit shop philosophy has become so important to this country.  A reflection of rising education to this belief has contributed to one of the fasted growing construction associations in the United States.  ABC is persistent in making sure public projects funded by your hard earned dollars are awarded to the lowest qualified bidder regardless of affiliations.  ABC supports and believes private industry projects should be awarded to an owner’s contractor of choice and that no one should be pressured by any affiliation to make unwise business decisions.
