ABC-WV Congratulates Swope Construction on its 25th Anniversary!

Swope Construction Co. is located in Bluefield, WV and has an impressive 60,000 sq. foot facility that employs over 70 people and proudly serves the construction industry in Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio.

Twenty-five years ago Chandler Swope went to work in his kid’s playroom and took a giant leap by starting his own business. Six months later he bought an old bakery that he has now renovated to house Swope Construction Co. The remarkable facility has 10,000 sq. feet of office space, significant space to store materials, a mechanic shop with three bays and ground floor parking. In addition, Mr. Swope built an indoor pool, basketball court, gym and archery target that both he and his employees enjoy.

Mr. Swope successfully grew his business by always improving efficiency with cutting-edge technology. Swope Construction Co. wrote and implemented an innovative database for project management. In addition, Swope Construction designed a safety program that aids in accounting logs and has implemented GPS Surveying, BIM and GPS on all trucks and equipment that has ignition lock and advanced safety features. Through Swope’s in-depth knowledge of the industry and innovative intuition, they have grown to become one of the largest, most dependable general contractors in the area.

Not only has Chandler Swope been a leader in his business, but he has actively served on the ABC-WV Board of Directors from 1993-2006. Mr. Swope served as Chairman in 2003 and now he has passed the ABC torch to Ron Mallory, his Executive Vice President, who has served on the Board since 2007.
