Company Overview

Swope Construction Company has operated a successful General Contracting firm for over 25 years.  Swope is a licensed contractor in West Virginia and Virginia, with the primary regions being central and southern West Virginia and southwestern Virginia.  Swope specializes in commercial building projects and is strongest in complex and accelerated job schedules.  The company performs major renovation projects as well as new construction, including hospitals, schools, offices, industrial, metal buildings, hotels, residential and site grading.

Safety has always been an important factor of Swope Construction Company.  A Safety Alliance has been initiated on jobsites with positive feedback from sub-contractors and other prime contractors.  This Alliance allows all parties to be involved with safety and help insure enforcement on the jobsite.  The Alliance has resulted in less safety issues on sites as well as solutions to safety concerns and questions.  A recent OSHA inspection at one of the jobsites in Lewisburg, West Virginia was a success as no citations were issued for the project.

Recent Projects

Swope attended the Twin Falls Resort State Park Grand Opening in Saulsville, West Virginia on June 15, 2011.  In July of 2008, Twin Falls decided to expand and renovate their facilities which totaled around $7.5 million.  Swope was awarded the contract to restore the lodge at the resort.  Improvements to the lodge included adding 27 additional guest rooms, as well as a new indoor swimming pool, fitness room, gift shop, courtyard and conference rooms.  These site improvements also included an expanded parking area for guests at the lodge.  Swope was honored to be a part of this renovation project to help restore the park and draw visitors to the area.

Most recently Swope was awarded the contract to build 330 bath houses for The Summit: Bechtel Family National Scouting Reserve in Fayette County, West Virginia.  The Summit is a multi-million dollar project for the Boy Scouts of America.  This camp sits on over 10,000 acres and will be the host to 50,000 boy scouts annually and over 100,000 annually during Jamboree years.  The Summit will be a high adventure base for the Boy Scouts of America and will be the location for the Boy Scouts National Jamboree in 2013 and the World Jamboree in 2019.
